Cast Intelligence is a competitive intelligence agency based in Nottingham, but operating globally. As a provider of intelligence services, the company answers the questions every business needs to know about its competitors. Our brief was to provide a complete rebrand for Cast Intelligence.
The Approach
We started the rebrand by renaming Cast Intelligence as octopus. The reason is simple. An octopus is a highly intelligent creature which amazingly has nine brains. It symbolises complexity, mystery, vision, intelligence and insight.
Appropriately to the world of uncovering intelligence, an octopus can also camouflage itself in different situations . It creates an illusion of invisibility by blending into the surroundings. Combined with its eight legs – representing greater reach – we found this to be the perfect name to convey the process of having the insight, subterfuge and tenacity of successfully obtaining competitive intelligence in places it is not normally sought or found.
In terms of the logo elements, we used an aqua graphic illustration of an octopus to suggest an open, friendly modern brand. We combined this illustration with a minimalist black font, producing a quirky tone with a serious edge.
The new brand was brought to life in a full range of communications in both digital in print formats, delivering precise messages to different sectors and audiences. To complete the rebrand, we produced a brand guidelines document.
The Result
